Post-Lift Checklist for House Lifting in CT

Once the house is placed back down, most people think that’s it, job’s done. We hear that all the time. But with House Lifting here in CT, there’s always a final round of things to go through. Nothing crazy, just the kind of stuff you want to double-check before calling it finished. At High Caliber Contracting, we don’t just pack up and leave. We walk the property with you and go over everything so everything feels perfect before we wrap up.

One of the first things that usually comes up is the stairs and entryways. After a lift, they don’t always line up the way they used to. Sometimes the front steps are off by a few inches, sometimes more. Same with side doors or back entries. We’ve had jobs where the old setup just didn’t make sense anymore, so we rebuilt it to fit the new height. It’s a normal part of Structural Lifting in CT, just making sure you can actually get in and out of your house without it feeling awkward.

Then we take a look around the outside, mostly the ground and how it slopes. This part matters more than people think. Water needs to run away from the house, plain and simple. If it doesn’t, you’ll feel it later. On many House-lifting jobs in Connecticut, we end up tweaking the grading a bit so everything drains properly. Nothing fancy, just doing it right so you don’t get puddles sitting near the foundation after a storm.

Utilities are another thing we go over, and we don’t rush that part. Once the house is back in place, everything gets checked again—electric, plumbing, heating, all of it. Most of the time, it’s fine, but we still go through it because small things can pop up. The same goes for little cracks or minor settling. With House Lifting, that can happen here and there. Usually, it’s nothing too serious, but we look at it anyway and make sure it’s not something that needs attention.

At the end of it all, there are inspections and just tying up loose ends. That’s really when it feels finished. Good Structural Lifting work isn’t just the lift itself—it’s how the job ends. When the stairs feel right, the yard drains correctly, everything’s working just like we planned and inspections are signed off, that’s when we know we did it right. That’s also when you can finally relax and just enjoy your home again.
