How to Choose a House Lifting Contractor in Connecticut

If you have never hired a company to lift a house before, you are probably wondering where to even start. We understand. This is something that most individuals only do once in their lifetime. Given the specialist nature of house lifting in Connecticut, it makes sense to take your time and ask lots of questions. In fact, we enjoy it when homeowners ask a lot of questions. It typically indicates that they are more concerned with completing the task correctly than with finding the best deal.

We always advise individuals to avoid being fixated on a single number. If someone offers you a really low price, consider why. Did they actually come to look at the house? Did they spend time talking about the project? Did they explain how they plan to lift it? We have met homeowners who collected three or four estimates and still had no clue what was included. That is not a great feeling when your whole house is about to leave the ground. A good Structural Lifting contractor should make things easier to understand, not harder.

There are a few things we would never skip asking about. Is the company licensed? Are they insured? Have they lifted homes like yours before? Can they show you pictures from real jobs instead of stock photos? If your house is near the shoreline, have they worked on homes that had to meet FEMA flood rules? None of those questions are rude. In fact, if somebody gets upset because you asked, that would probably make us nervous too. House lifting takes real experience, and a company that has been doing it for years should have no problem showing you their work.

It also helps to pay attention to how people treat you before the job even starts. Do they answer the phone? Do they show up when they say they will? Do they explain things in plain English instead of throwing around a bunch of construction words? We think that says a lot about how the rest of the project will go. House Lifting in CT is a team effort between the homeowner and the contractor, and good communication makes the whole experience a lot less stressful.

At High Caliber Contracting, we have always believed our work should speak for itself. We want homeowners to ask questions, look at our past projects, and compare us to anyone else they are considering. A house lift is too important to rush into. When you choose a company with the right experience, the right equipment, good insurance, FEMA knowledge, and a warranty you understand, you can move forward feeling a whole lot better. That is exactly how we think Structural Lifting in CT should be handled.
